What initially struck me with the VicTsing Rotatable Magnetic Smartphone Mini Car Mount was how small it was. Having used magnetic mounts before upon opening the box my expectation was something the size of a house and quite clunky. As the components were being removed from the box I was baffled as to where the rest of it was then I got it.
This magnetic phone holder is a solid metal ball with a glue patch to stick the mount onto your dashboard. Sounds simple enough and trust me what is different about this mount is its size. Now the mount itself may be small but the pull from the magnet is quite strong. Even as you are removing the components from the box the magnet is pulling towards the metal plate.
In the box is the car mount, 2 metal plates one large and one small, 2 glue tabs for the stand, 2 glue tabs for the metal plates, a cotton wipe as well as the instructions.
The question we all have about this mount is how well does it hold the phones whilst driving. The answer, really well. This has been tested on several of the smartphones in my household and it has stood up well with all of them. It held the HTC One M7, the 5.5 inch HTC Desire 820, the Lumia 640 XL and the iPhone 6.
What is special about this mount is you decide where your phone is positioned. You are not constricted by the inability of it to be moved 360 degrees in fact the beauty of the metal ball design is you can do just that. Your phone, Sat Nav or MP3 player can be placed at the best viewing angle for you. The stand states it can hold up to 250g although I haven’t weighed my devices I don’t think any of them exceed this so as long as you stick to this weight limit you shouldn’t have a problem.
What I liked about this mount is that due to its size you are not really limited to where you could position it. You could add it to your work desk for example. The compact size means when not in use it doesn’t take up a large amount of space and isn’t an eyesore.
It is definitely one of the better if not the best magnetic stand I have tried so far and comes highly recommended.
